Evoke welcomes you to get to know October (@impology) a bit more before stepping into the portal that is
"25 Votives", this Friday at Evoke.
Experience an evocative journey through a cold, blue night, where the allure of historical romance intertwines with contemporary technology. We are profoundly grateful to represent October and have dedicated immense love and hard work to go above and beyond for our Evoke Artist.
Takashi Shallow poignantly recapped the classes visit to Evoke! "I initially asked Hex and Fabian to guest lecture for my University of Chicago class Visual Language: On Images because I felt something exciting and sincere happening at their space Evoke. I'm proud of Chicago for having a robust underground art scene, so when new, experimental spaces emerge, they are always very dear to me. During their visit, we discussed the extreme breadth of artist practices today, ranging from the local rave scene to partying abroad and painting and installation art, all the while bolstering queer, bipoc spaces. It was clear from our discussion that "art" and "the scene" are inseparable and have probably always been.
However, I don't know how clear that is for students when they Google trending artists or go to the museum. Through our visit we were able to witness the real thing as it's happening, and I'm infinitely grateful for what, to me, was a sacred occasion." - Takashi Shallow, Lecturer for the Department of Visual Art at The University of Chicago

"KILBOURN PARK — Opening Evoke, a new creative studio on the Northwest Side, was a “full-circle moment” for co-founders Hex Parsons and Fabian Sotelo.
Parsons and Sotelo discovered their passion for art by participating in public or free after-school programs like Gallery 37 and Marwen. Now, they’re running a creative hub here."
